Kay had her six-month checkup with the ENT, which is usually a quick but necessary visit. Since Kay has smaller ears, she’s more prone to ear infections, and too many could mean needing ear tubes. Thankfully, while she’s had a few infections, it’s not enough to require tubes yet—good news!
During the appointment, the doctor checked Kay’s ears, asked about her BAHA (hearing device), and, of course, inquired about her recent diabetes diagnosis. After reviewing everything, he told us we’ll see him again in six months. The best part of the visit was that the doctor suggested scheduling her next ENT appointment on the same day as her audiologist follow-up, since they’re in the same office. That will make things more convenient.
On the way home, I found myself reflecting on how far Kay has come in just three years. When she was born, we had quite the list of specialists, but over the years, we’ve been able to discharge from most of them. It’s such an amazing feeling.
