On Sunday, November 26th, my mom, and I had the pleasure of attending the 35th annual Down Syndrome Organization of Southern Nevada’s Festival of Trees and Lights gala! Being able to attend such an amazing event this year, while being a board member of this organization, made everything even more special!

The evening was filled with glistening trees, each decorated in its own unique and special way! Fancy dresses, cocktails, and talks with friends made the event even more enjoyable. This occasion is special because it’s one of the many ways we try to raise money for the organization. The Down Syndrome Organization of Southern Nevada (DSOSN) is a non-profit organization, meaning they rely on donations from our community to continue providing free classes and activities for our loved ones within the disability community.

The day before the event, they had an open viewing for all families to check out the trees and all the items that would be up for auction. Additionally, everyone had the opportunity to take a picture with Santa and Mrs. Claus (which I think was my favorite part).

My parents and I took Kay the day before so she could get her picture with Santa. As soon as Kay noticed Santa and Mrs. Claus, she gasped with joy and pointed in excitement! Then she noticed all the beautiful trees within the ballroom and gasped even more. We are so thankful to have this opportunity and to be able to attend such amazing events!

As always, it was a night to remember, and I’m always eager to see what the next year will bring!
