Kay and I had a fantastic Saturday at Leaps and Bounds at GiGi’s Playhouse! This week’s theme was all about winter, and Kay had a blast crafting her own snowman. She filled it with fluffy cotton balls, added googly eyes, and finished it off with some fun accessories. The activity wrapped up with a movement game, where the kids pulled a sled carrying Olaf through a tunnel.

Interestingly, Kay wasn’t too interested in the tunnel activity this time, which surprised me since she usually enjoys anything involving tunnels. Right before the activity, I received an alert that her blood sugar was dropping, so I quickly grabbed some fruit snacks to bring it back up. It’s still hard to predict exactly how Kay will feel during a low or high blood sugar episode.

There have been moments when her blood sugar was so low the glucose monitor couldn’t even provide a number—it simply read “LOW.” Yet, Kay acted like nothing was wrong, full of energy and unstoppable, which can be risky during a low. Although I’d hoped she’d enjoy the tunnel activity, I was relieved she sat still long enough for me to manage her blood sugar and get her back in range.

After Leaps and Bounds, we stayed for open play, which is an extra hour of free time for the kids to explore their favorite activities. Kay spent most of her time in the play kitchen and the reading area, flipping through her favorite books.

We ended our fun morning at GiGi’s Playhouse with a delicious lunch with friends. It was a wonderful day filled with creativity, play, and good company!
