Last Saturday, my parents, Kay, and I had the pleasure of attending the 2024 Super Fest organized by the Matthew Foundation. Super Fest is a unique Football, Cheer, and Sideline Reporting Camp that embraces inclusivity for individuals of all abilities – a truly remarkable initiative!

Kay had the opportunity to step into the world of cheerleading, immersing herself in a short routine, complete with her own shirt and bow. It was a joy to witness her embracing the experience, surrounded by friends and fellow cheerleaders. Notably, Kay had the chance to meet and take photos with cheerleaders from UNLV, our local university, as well as NFL cheerleaders from the San Francisco 49ers and the Kansas City Chiefs.

Despite the unexpected chill in the air on that windy morning, we made the most of our time, gradually warming up as we engaged in the various activities. Kay, being the trooper she is, gave her all and remained in high spirits throughout the event.

As the morning progressed, it became apparent that Kay was less enthused about braving the chilly weather for much longer. Yet, she soldiered on, demonstrating her resilience and enthusiasm. Of course, typical of Kay, she kept me on my toes, constantly on the move and exploring the event grounds.

In the end, despite the weather challenges, we had a delightful morning, and the experience at Super Fest was truly one-of-a-kind. Here’s to hoping we can continue to enjoy such wonderful moments in the years to come!
