As Kay gets older, Christmas with her becomes even more magical. Lately, she’s been in a phase where every gift she opens is met with an enthusiastic “Wow!”—and it’s absolutely the cutest thing. In our family, we open gifts together on Christmas Eve, and then Kay gets her presents from Santa on Christmas morning.

This year, Santa brought Kay a mini trampoline, which we hope will provide her with hours of fun since her newest favorite skill is jumping. Along with the trampoline, Kay received several thoughtful gifts from both Santa and us. Christmas Eve and Christmas Day were both wonderfully spent. While our celebration was small, it was still incredibly fulfilling.

My parents invited the new neighbors over for Christmas lunch since they recently moved away from their family. We spent the day relaxing with good company and enjoying delicious food. The afternoon ended with us watching Kay play with all her new toys while we lounged in front of the TV.

The holidays can be challenging, especially if you don’t have much family nearby or if you’re missing a loved one who has passed. It’s okay to feel those emotions while also cherishing the moments you have with friends and family. Take time to remember those who are no longer here, but don’t forget to celebrate the joy and love that surrounds you in the present.
