Day two of kinder warm up is complete, and now we wait for teacher meet and greet on Friday before the big day… Kay’s first official day of kindergarten on Monday!
It seems like Kay had another great few hours at her new school today. She walked in ready to go and continues to show us that she is excited about this next chapter. Watching her get comfortable in this new environment has been such a special thing to see.
I think her teacher has already started figuring out one of Kay’s biggest personalities traits: she wants to do everything herself. Kay is very independent and determined, which is an amazing quality, but sometimes she doesn’t quite understand that accepting help doesn’t mean she can’t still do it on her own. She may want help, but the second someone actually helps her, she gets frustrated because she wants to be the one doing it.
Her teacher seems to already understand that balance and is finding ways to encourage Kay’s independence while also showing her that it’s okay to have someone guide her first. Letting Kay try after seeing how something is done seems to be the perfect approach for her. She is learning that asking for help is just another way to learn, not a sign that she can’t do something.
Kay is a very determined little girl, and that stubborn streak of hers can definitely keep us on our toes. But that same determination is also what helps her push through challenges and keep trying. I truly think her teacher this year is going to be another great fit for her and her big personality.
