This past weekend, we celebrated GiGi’s Playhouse Las Vegas’ first birthday! It’s hard to believe an entire year has passed since its doors first opened—what a magical year it has been!
I still remember sitting with some of the founding members when this was just a dream. We talked about what it would take to make it a reality—the fundraisers, the dedication, and the overwhelming amount of work ahead. In those early days, we held events in borrowed spaces, hoping and believing that one day we would have a Playhouse of our own. And now, here we are—a thriving community hub, built with love and fueled by an incredible support system.
Even though GiGi’s Playhouse has been open for a year, the work is far from over. The fundraising never stops. The advocacy never stops. It’s so important to continue spreading the word about the life-changing impact GiGi’s Playhouse has on individuals with Down syndrome and their families. This Playhouse is more than just a center—it’s a second home, a place of belonging, and a community built on love, inclusion, and endless possibilities.
Over the past year, GiGi’s Playhouse has provided countless free programs focusing on education, life skills, fitness, and social development. And the best part? There’s even more to come! From literacy and math tutoring to music and movement classes, plus social groups for all ages, the future is filled with exciting new opportunities.
Of course, none of this would be possible without our amazing volunteers. They show up, dedicate their time, and pour their hearts into making sure every participant feels supported and valued. Without them, GiGi’s Playhouse wouldn’t be what it is today.
I am endlessly grateful. Grateful for this life. Grateful for Kay. Grateful that she has a place where she can learn, play, and be her true, authentic self. Having GiGi’s Playhouse in our city is something I will never take for granted because I know firsthand what a gift it is to have a place like this.
Here’s to an amazing first year—and to many, many more!
