My mom and I had the joy of attending the 2nd annual GiGi’s Playhouse gala, themed “I Have a Voice.” A few months ago, I had the chance to write about what GiGi’s Playhouse means to our family and the positive impact it’s had on us. To my surprise, I was later invited to film a short segment, sharing our story on camera. It was an incredible opportunity to advocate for Kay, and for her peers, to show the world just how amazing these kids are—they’re just like everyone else!
I was lucky enough to preview the video after it was edited, and I’m so glad I did because it made me cry! Of course, that didn’t stop the tears from flowing again when it was shown at the gala—HAH.
The gala itself was magical, touching, and heartwarming, as it always is. I love seeing everyone—sponsors, families, and young adults from our amazing Down Syndrome community—come together to celebrate and support such a wonderful cause. Nights like these always fill me with emotion and remind me how incredibly grateful I am that Kay has made me a lifetime member of this loving, accepting community.
