Kay’s school held a Trunk or Treat, and I couldn’t wait to take her! We arrived about 30 minutes before the event started, and if you know toddlers, you know that arriving early can sometimes be a gamble!

Thankfully, we were able to pass the time on the playground, which kept Kay happily entertained. But when it was almost time to start, I had to pry her away from the play area—and her mood took a quick turn (not surprising, since leaving the playground is never easy!).

Even when we spotted her teacher, who was with her class, Kay’s spirits didn’t lift as they usually do. Normally, being around her teacher and classmates gets her excited, wanting to join in on whatever they’re doing. But, this time, no luck. After visiting a few trunks without much change in her mood, we decided to call it a night and head home early.

Celebrating the season with Kay has been a bit more challenging than expected, but we’re ready to keep trying as more holiday events come up. Here’s hoping for smoother festivities ahead!
