What a pleasure it was to attend another year at the DSP Summit. It was a quick trip, flying in Friday morning with a slightly delayed flight, attending the Summit on Saturday, exploring some fun outdoor activities, and flying home Sunday evening with another minor delay. What a jam-packed trip it was! I am always honored to be able to speak and share my story and life with Kay in front of hundreds of people. This time was even more special because Maeve got to join us. She did incredible on stage, staying focused on Kay as she ran freely around the stage, telling me no or bye when I asked if she wanted to sit with me. Hah. Maeve even alerted to Kay’s high blood sugar while I was speaking. What an amazing pup she is. She has truly settled into our family and into her incredible role as Kay’s diabetic alert dog.

Traveling with Kay can be challenging, and adding Maeve into the mix made me a little more nervous. Even though Maeve is in true puppy mode at home, she has repeatedly proven that she is in work mode when out in public, which is all that matters to me. She handled TSA wonderfully, patiently waiting while I walked through the scanner and then immediately recalling to me. Everywhere we go, we receive compliments on her beautiful appearance, calm behavior, and curiosity from people who notice her alerting. She even alerted on the airplane on the way to Oregon and has handled every trip and new situation with ease and confidence.

I am truly grateful for all the support, especially from my boyfriend Tyler, who was able to attend the trip with us this year. He manages Kay while I handle Maeve. I could not have done this trip without him. The overall support from Tyler and others has made me feel incredibly supported in the best ways possible. I look forward to the DSP Summit every year. I love Oregon, which is so much greener than Las Vegas, and the weather is always a refreshing change. Trips can be challenging with Kay and now with Maeve as well, but they are always worth it for the fun times and memories we create. Thank you all for allowing me to continue to share my life with Kay and now Maeve. I am truly grateful for each of you.
