Kay had her last T-Ball game of the season last weekend! There’s still one final game left, but we’ll be missing it this time — and for a great reason — we’ll be attending the Breakthrough T1D yearly walk!
Since attending our very first walk last year, it’s become one of my favorite events of the year. It’s such a meaningful reminder that we’re not alone in this journey — that there are so many other families walking the same path and facing the same day-to-day challenges that come with Type 1 Diabetes. The sense of community and support is something truly special.
The weather for our last game was perfect — warm but not too hot — which made it easy to enjoy the afternoon. I still can’t believe it’s already mid-November and we’re getting sunshine and short-sleeve weather here in Las Vegas! As much as I love the warm days, I’m definitely ready for sweater season. I have cozy sweaters just waiting for their turn!
The team did great, playing hard and having fun, and I was so proud of how everyone respected Maeve while she worked. A few days before the game, our coaches sent out a helpful reminder to the team about the importance of letting Maeve focus and not interacting with her — even though she’s adorable! I know it’s tough for both kids and adults to resist petting a cute dog, but when Maeve is in working mode, it’s so important for her to stay focused on Kay and not get distracted. Every bit of that focus helps keep Kay safe.
Kay has been working really hard on hitting the ball off the T, and she’s made so much progress! She lights up every time it’s her turn to bat. As much as she enjoys being home, she also loves being out, staying busy, and trying new activities — and T-Ball has been the perfect mix of fun, movement, and teamwork.
Since she’s had such a great time this season, I went ahead and signed her up for soccer this winter! I have a feeling she’s going to love it just as much. I can already picture her running across the field, full of energy and smiles. Stay tuned — I’m sure it’ll bring plenty of new memories and stories to share!
