We celebrated another wonderful Thanksgiving filled with yummy food, laughter, and friends who feel more like family. One of our neighbors joined us again this year, along with my boyfriend Tyler and one of my closest friends, Dylan. The table was overflowing with dishes, and the dessert options could have easily fed double the amount of people. Even after everyone ate as much as they could handle, we still had leftovers for days. The true sign of a successful holiday meal in my book.

As joyful as the holidays can be, I also know they can be tough for some. Not everyone has someone to celebrate with, and many are missing loved ones who are no longer here. Moments like these have made me slow down and appreciate even the simplest things. There’s always something to be thankful for, even if it’s small. Sometimes the smallest things end up being the most important.

I am thankful for Kay, for her strength, her light, her joy, and the communities she has brought me into. Not every part of this journey has been easy, but because of Kay, I’ve met some truly incredible people who I know will be lifelong friends. She has connected me to circles of support, understanding, and love that I never even knew existed before becoming her mom.

I am also incredibly thankful for Maeve, and for everyone who helped us bring her into our lives. Maeve has become such an important part of our family. She’s playful, sweet, and so full of personality — but even in the middle of playtime, she never forgets her job. She has an instinctive awareness about Kay that amazes me every single day. If Kay is playing on a playground with Tyler and I’m standing nearby with Maeve, Maeve’s eyes are locked on her girl. She doesn’t let Kay out of her sight for a second. You can feel the bond between them. A connection built through scent, trust, routine, and a shared sense of purpose. Maeve knows her job is important, and she takes it seriously. Her love for Kay is steady, loyal, and so pure.

This Thanksgiving wasn’t just about food or gatherings. It was a reminder of how far we’ve come, the people and communities that support us, and the unique little family we’ve built — full of love, resilience, and gratitude. No matter how busy or chaotic life gets, I hope I can always hold onto this feeling. There is always something to be thankful for.
