Saturday was World Down Syndrome Day! While I advocate for awareness and inclusion every day, this occasion is extra special—it’s a chance to highlight fun facts and share ways others can celebrate and promote inclusion.

I was a bit disappointed that Kay was on spring break this year, as I love dressing her up in blue, yellow, and a fun tutu for school. It’s always heartwarming to see her classmates and teachers join in by wearing crazy socks or other gear to show their support.

Despite that, the day was still exciting! Fox 5 News came to our house to film a segment on us, which was such an incredible experience. After a busy morning, we spent some time relaxing at home before heading to my dad’s union hall for a dinner honoring women in the union, as well as the wives of union members, recognizing their hard work and support.

Kay did great overall! She found another little boy to play with, and they had a blast running around and laughing together. We enjoyed dinner, indulged in some delicious desserts, and Kay, as always, made her rounds saying hi to everyone. Of course, my parents, Kay, and I proudly wore our blue and yellow Down Syndrome awareness shirts to represent the day.

No matter what, I will always make sure Kay is celebrated in every way possible!
