Kay and I recently had an exciting opportunity to be featured on one of our local news channels, Fox 5! Molly, a reporter with Fox 5, came across Kay’s GoFundMe while we were raising funds for her diabetic alert dog. She loved our story and reached out, eager to learn more.
A few days later, we spoke on the phone, and Molly expressed interest in meeting us in person. Last Friday, she and her partner came to our home to film the interview. It was a wonderful experience—Kay was her playful, silly self, and they captured some great footage of her in action. The story is set to air mid-week, and I can’t wait to see it!
This isn’t our first time on TV, but we were much more prepared this time. Or should I say, I was more prepared—hah! The first time was a bit unexpected. We were visiting a friend at our favorite inclusive coffee shop when the owner mentioned that a news crew was on the way to do a story about the café. She asked if I’d be willing to share our experience, and of course, I said yes!
Both of these interviews were deeply personal to me. This latest one, in particular, means so much because it allows us to raise awareness about the importance of diabetic alert dogs. Many people don’t realize just how life-changing these service dogs can be. Kay’s dog will be by her side, always watching out for her, ensuring she stays safe and healthy.
I’m so ready for this next chapter! Having a diabetic alert dog will not only help Kay but also bring me a huge sense of peace knowing that she has this extra layer of support. I feel incredibly grateful for the chance to share our story on TV and to spread awareness about this amazing journey we’re on. Stay tuned—I can’t wait to share the segment once it airs!
