Sunday gave us another one of those days that just felt so right from start to finish.

The GiGi’s Playhouse Dash for Down syndrome was this past weekend, and somehow we lucked out again with beautiful weather. It was sunny, comfortable, and honestly perfect—aside from the wind doing its own thing and keeping us all on our toes. But if anything, it just added a little extra energy and made the whole day feel even more alive.

This year felt especially special because Maeve got to attend her very first GiGi’s walk—and definitely the first of many. Watching her there was something else. She’s always so focused when she’s working, especially around kids, which I know isn’t easy for her because she loves them so much. But before the walk, she got her moment. She had some dedicated time to interact, soak up all the attention, and hand out her signature gentle kisses. Seeing that side of her shine in a space that means so much to us was really special. Maeve truly has the sweetest, most gentle soul, and she just radiates it wherever she goes.

Kay had the best time too, which is never a surprise at an event for GiGi’s Playhouse. It’s her people, her kind of energy. She got to see her friends, run around, and just be completely herself. One of my favorite parts of the day was watching her participate in the kids Dash for Down syndrome after the walk. Any chance Kay gets to run freely, she is all in—no hesitation, just pure joy. It’s impossible not to smile watching her.

And of course, we may—or may not—have convinced Tyler to jump into the dads, uncles, and grandparents dash. I’ll let you guess how that went… but let’s just say it added a lot of laughs to an already fun day.

After all the excitement, we headed over to Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers for lunch, which felt like the perfect way to wind down. Kay ordered her go-to meal—chicken and French fries—no surprises there. It’s her favorite for a reason, and after a full morning of running, playing, and celebrating, she definitely earned it.

We spent a little time relaxing at home afterward, taking a breather from the busy morning before heading back out to meet Tyler’s family for dinner. It made the day feel even more complete—getting to carry that time together into the evening.

It was one of those full, happy, slightly chaotic in the best way kind of days. The kind where you’re a little tired by the end, but in that really satisfying way. A day filled with community, connection, laughter, and so much love.

Moments like these, surrounded by people who just get it, remind me how lucky we are to be part of something so special. And getting to experience it all through Kay’s eyes—and now with Maeve right there beside us—just makes it that much more meaningful.
