There’s something about these Saturday mornings lately that just feels extra special, and this past t-ball game was no exception.

This one had a superhero theme, and it honestly couldn’t have been more perfect. Kay seemed to really lean into the fun of it all. At one point, she had a little one-on-one moment with Spider-Man that absolutely melted me. They chatted for a bit, and before he ran off to visit the other kids, she gave him a sweet little kiss on the cheek. Just one of those moments you wish you could bottle up forever.

And can we talk about the weather for a second? Because it finally gave us a break. No intense heat, no battling the sun—just a really beautiful, comfortable day that made being out at the field that much more enjoyable.

What made it even more special was having extra family there. Kay had my boyfriend’s parents—her other grandparents—and his sister in town, all there to watch her play. She absolutely lights up when she has people cheering her on, and you could see it in everything she did. There’s this growing confidence in her, this sense of understanding and maturity that’s starting to shine through, and it makes these games so much more than just t-ball. Watching her grow into herself like this is something I don’t take for granted.

After the game, we all stuck around for a bit, just talking and soaking in the moment. I ended up chatting with a coach from another team who noticed Kay’s CGM on her arm. She shared that her son also has type 1 diabetes, and just like that, we were deep into one of those conversations that only other T1D parents truly get. We talked about the highs, the lows (literally and figuratively), the routines, the learning curves, everything. Of course, Maeve was right there with me, so we also got into how incredible she’s been as an added layer of support for Kay. It’s always comforting to connect with someone who understands this part of our world.

It was just one of those really good days. The kind that feels easy, full, and meaningful all at once. A little baseball, a little superhero magic, a lot of love, and those small, powerful moments that remind me we’re exactly where we’re meant to be.
