Second T-Ball game of the season is in the books! This last one was Star Wars-themed, so a few characters made a surprise appearance to show their support and snap photos with the kiddos—such a fun touch!

Kay absolutely loves T-Ball, but some games can be a bit of a challenge. She has a strong desire to run free, so a good part of the game is often spent chasing her down or trying to reinforce the idea of following the baseline after she hits, and waiting her turn. As she’s getting older, she’s wanting more independence—exploring on her own terms—even if she doesn’t always understand that we can’t just run around whenever we want.

Thankfully, the weather was perfect, which always makes the day more enjoyable. We really treasure this time with friends and soaking in the awesome, welcoming atmosphere.

Each game typically has a “buddy” who goes out on the field with the kids, giving parents a chance to relax, take photos, and just enjoy watching their little ones play. That said, I think any buddy matched with Kay quickly realizes she’s a runner! If you’re not holding her hand and guiding her, she’ll go whichever direction she pleases. After Kay’s first time at bat, her buddy kindly suggested that maybe I should step in to help out—and mentioned she didn’t remember Kay running this much last season. 😂

I really do appreciate the buddy system, because while some parents might want to soak up the moment without a phone in hand, I love capturing pictures and videos as keepsakes.

Even though some days come with challenges—especially as Kay continues to learn how to follow instructions—I love getting her involved in things like T-Ball. It gives her a chance to bond with friends, connect with our community, and grow in her own way. There are lessons in all of this—for both of us—and I’m grateful we get to share these sweet moments together.
