Kristin
Hi, My name is Kristin or (Kris) Anderson,
I originally went to school for counseling and received my bachelor’s in psychology focusing on cognitive dissonance which led me to getting my master’s in criminal justice, because I was curious to understand the mind and behavior in a different way. Throughout this time, I was helping my family members get services through Yamhill County developmental disabilities. Which led me to study our laws and policies that carry the IDD community to help me understand what my family member was going through. I became a PSW and then an employment specialist for this family member and for others in my community. I wanted to help my family members and other individuals with being able to find work or be able to go to college if they wanted to. This journey led me to DSP Connections where I now work as a Family Service Representative in the care team, helping other families with DSP services.
Something my family member and I have in common is traveling and going out into the world. I love to get out to the beach, my favorite, Hike, and walk with my dog named Remi. Recently, I got the bug for traveling further outside of Oregon, whether that be here in the US or internationally like Japan. My next goal is to go to Canada and see where my ancestors come from! Something odd or interesting about me is that I have my Private Investigation license. I wanted to make sure that, like my family members, other individuals were able to receive help and assistance with understanding our laws and policies. Especially, when it came to getting the right services.
