GiGi’s Playhouse hosted their 2nd annual Easter Egg Hunt at Chicken N Pickle, and this year felt like the right time to finally give it a try with Kay.

In years past, I hesitated. I wasn’t sure if an event like this would be overwhelming for her or if she’d really enjoy it. Big events with lots of kids, noise, and activity can be unpredictable, and as a parent, you’re always trying to find that balance between protecting your child and giving them opportunities to experience new things. This year, though, something told me to just go for it, and I’m so glad I did.

From the moment we got there, you could see the excitement building. Kay jumped right into collecting eggs and had such a great time being part of it all. It’s always so special to watch her in those moments—fully engaged, having fun, and just being a kid alongside everyone else.

After the egg hunt, Chicken N Pickle treated all of the kiddos to a free brunch, which was such a thoughtful touch. Kay happily chowed down on some chicken (no surprise there—definitely one of her favorites), and we took a little time to sit, relax, and soak it all in.

Since it was also our first time at Chicken N Pickle, we decided to walk around and explore a bit. It’s such a fun space, and the weather could not have been more perfect. Those are the kinds of days you just don’t want to rush through.

Before heading home, we made one last stop at the park to enjoy the sunshine a little longer. It felt like the perfect way to wind down after such a full and happy morning. We eventually headed home to relax and recharge before Kay’s T-ball game later that afternoon—because as always, our days don’t slow down much these days!

Looking back, I’m really grateful we took the chance this year. Moments like these remind me that sometimes the “what ifs” are worth pushing past. Watching Kay experience something new, have fun, and just enjoy being in the moment—it means everything.
