I’m so excited to share that Maeve is doing wonderfully in her training! I’ve been getting great updates from her trainer, and this week was especially impressive. Maeve had the chance to visit Area 15, which is a super busy, sensory-filled place with black lights, moving lights, loud music, dim lighting, and lots of people constantly moving around. It’s definitely a high-distraction environment, but Maeve stayed focused like a champ. She was quick to detect and alert her trainer to both high and low blood sugars, even with all the chaos happening around her.

Maeve also spent a full day running errands together with her trainer, moving in and out of stores and spending a lot of time out in public. Maeve showed amazing endurance for such a long outing. It’s so reassuring to see how well she handles different environments and stays focused no matter what’s going on.

I’m also thrilled to share that we received Maeve’s official come home date of August 25th! On August 25th and 26th, her wonderful trainer will spend two days with Maeve and me, teaching me all the commands she’s learned throughout her training. That way, I’ll know exactly how to communicate with Maeve and keep her working her best.

What I love most is that Maeve’s training has exposed her to everything she might experience in real life, busy places, loud music, flashing lights, she’s been through it all. Kay’s life can get loud and chaotic, so knowing Maeve is ready to handle it all gives me so much peace of mind.

Watching Maeve grow into her role as a diabetic alert dog has been such an incredible journey. We are so proud of her and get more excited as we get closer to bringing her home.
