When Kay was first diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes, I thought I had a decent grasp on how to manage it—enough to get by and keep her safe. But as time went on, I found myself feeling defeated, frustrated, and overwhelmed. I was calling the endocrinologist sometimes weekly, desperate for guidance—hoping for advice on what settings to tweak or reassurance that I was doing something right.
To me, “well-managed diabetes” doesn’t look like 40%–50% time in range. Yet that’s where we were, nearly a year after diagnosis. I’d cry from sheer exhaustion and anxiety, unsure how to get Kay the level of care she deserved. I felt stuck—like I was supposed to accept this version of diabetes management and just hope things would magically improve someday. But deep down, I knew there had to be more help out there.
That’s when I came across a post on Instagram from Danielle, a diabetes educator, nurse practitioner, and Type 1 diabetic herself for over 35 years. I listened to her story and immediately felt seen. She acknowledged how hard managing T1D is, but also reminded me that good control is possible—and so is living a happy, fulfilling life with diabetes.
Danielle created her own program, Conquer Your Diabetes, because she understands that diabetes isn’t one-size-fits-all. Her program is packed with valuable, easy-to-understand video lessons covering everything from diet and exercise to mental health and daily management tips. She hosts multiple live group calls each week where parents and caregivers can share their struggles and get advice in real time. There’s even a private platform where families can connect, share what’s worked (and what hasn’t), and support each other through the ups and downs.
You also get direct access to Danielle and her incredible coaching team—they’re just a message away for questions, encouragement, or even a safe space to vent on the really hard days.
Joining Conquer Your Diabetes has been life-changing for us. The program runs for three months so that you walk away not just with knowledge, but with the confidence to manage diabetes head-on.
In under six weeks, Kay’s time in range went from 40%–50% to 70% or more. Her A1C dropped from 8.1 in March to 6.6 at her June endocrinologist appointment. I truly cannot put into words how much this program has improved not only Kay’s diabetes management, but also my mental health and peace of mind.
I still have a few weeks left in the program, and I’m so grateful for this opportunity—to learn, to grow, and to connect with such an amazing community. I now feel empowered to take on whatever diabetes throws our way, and most importantly, to help Kay thrive.
I cannot thank Danielle enough for creating this incredible program and pouring her heart into helping families like ours. It has truly been a game-changer—for Kay’s health and for my peace of mind.
